Recently I've had several clients express interest in doing an "Around the World" trip circumnavigating the globe. It's an amazing thing to do and definitely a "bucket list" trip that will be a memory for a lifetime! I actually booked a trip for some clients where we used the Star Alliance "round the world" fare booking commercial flights in the Star Alliance partnership and then pieced together their hotels and tours to customize their trip to their desires...but there were some restrictions that prohibited them from doing everything they wanted to do. They also spent a lot of time hanging out in airports, but at least they got to use the business class lounges.
A great alternative is a TCS World Travel luxury jet expedition. They have a variety of itineraries to choose from and offer luxury planes, accommodations, and tours. I book the trip so that every detail is managed and you don't have to worry about anything except enjoying the trip. And the biggest benefit...you only spend an average of 9 hours in airports as compared to 50+ if you were to do the itinerary on commercial airlines.
